A few months ago Sony announced the arrival of the successor to the PSP, known as the Playstation Vita. Previous month Nintendo released its latest portable game machine, the 3DS. Since its launch, the 3DS has been selling Nintendo to cause early low system price. Many are quick to point out that the competitive market of mobile game has cannibalized sales of 3DS. But is this really so? If not, then why the 3DS fought so hard and what can the Playstation Vita do to avoid the same problems.
The only thing that affects a launch system is mostly stable of games released with it. At launch, Nintendo apparently had several sets of high-profile third party with the launch of the system (Madden, Super Street Fighter, Sims) to name a few. However, most of these games were half the launch titles in the oven. Most of them received bad reviews and unconvincing. Interest quickly waned.
From a standpoint of 3DS technology is innovative. It is the first portable gaming device to use 3D convincingly, for the most part. While the 3D effect is impressive, the narrow field of view makes the system tedious and sometimes difficult to use. Furthermore, Nintendo’s early warnings regarding the prolonged use of the 3D effect did not help.
So what can the PS Vita to avoid these problems? The most important thing Sony can do is have a group as important for the Playstation Vita. So far, several successful franchises already announced PS3 Playstation versions Vita: Uncharted Call of duty, Silent Hill, Resistance, Mortal Kombat and many more. But Sony needs to emphasize quality over quantity of these initial launch titles. Compelling games attract more players and more sales of the Playstation Vita.
On paper, the Playstation Vita is a technological monster. It has a power almost as much as the PS3 and is a fraction of the size. It has lots of interesting features such as a touch screen touch screen front and back and a three-axis gyroscope and a three-axis accelerometer. All this high tech material mean nothing unless the developers to use these functions in a unique and creative. Sony needs to cultivate the creativity of developers the first part and push them to use technology in ways we have not seen before. Like the Nintendo Wii did when originally launched, the PS Vita has to get people to show them something they have not seen before. If Sony developers, part one can show what the Playstation Vita is capable of, then the 3rd party developers certainly jump and maybe Sony will have its first truly successful portable game machine.
